PTT ASAHI Chemical

PTT Asahi Chemical Company Limited (PTTAC). a company of the PTT Group, is a joint venture between PTT Public Company Limited (PTT), Thailand’s National Energy Company, one of the leading players in the petrochemicals industry in Thailand and the Asia-Pacific, Asahi Kasei Chemical Corporation (AKCC) of Japan, the word’s second-largest acrylonitrile producer and the largest in Asia, and Marubeni Corporation (Marubeni) of Japan, one of the word’s leading petrochemicals traders.

The shareholding ratio is PTT (48.5%), AKCC (48.5%) and Marubeni (3%). For PTTAC, it is a great opportunity to receive joint support from shareholders with strengths in technology, feedstocks, operations and marketing.

PTTAC will produce 200,000 tonnes/year of can (acrylonitrile) and 70,000 Tonnes/year of MMA (methyl methacrylate) and 160,000 tonnes/year of AMS (ammonium sulfate) as a by-product, with commercial production expected to commence in 2010.

PTTAC is during the process of Health Impact Assessment (HIA). In cooperation with Air Save Company Limited and the Department of Occupational Health and Safety, Faculty of Public Health, Mahidol University, we are conducting the research of Health Impact in Rayong communities nearby the location of AN and MMA Project. We would like to invite interested person to participate and exchange ideas in Public Scoping of Health Impact Assessment (HIA) of Acrylonitrile (AN) and Methyl Methacrylate (MMA) of PTTAC.
